The aptly-named Sparkling Blast features 211 diamonds

Ulysse Nardin only just launched its new Blast line of automatic winding tourbillon watches, complete with skeletonized design. Now, it has unveiled a flashy new version covered in diamonds.

The Spakrling Blast features 211 diamonds cut into 85 different shapes, totalling 13 carats. The general idea, says UN, is that the watch is designed to look like a shattered mirror.

One interesting note about the design is that each diamond has been invisibly set, meaning there are no visible prongs or bezels. The technique is incredibly difficult to execute, but if done correctly maximises the return of light from the diamonds – meaning it shines bright on the wrist.

The Blast comes with a redesigned UN-172 in-house movement, with a micro-rotor at the 12 o’clock position. The model also comes with a three-day power reserve.

The Sparkling Blast is available on an 18k white gold motor on a white rubber strap, or an 18k white gold model on a deep blue alligator strap. Each is limited to just three watches.

Ulysse Nardin’s iced-up Sparking Blast will set you back US$410,000 when it arrives in boutiques later this year.
