Seiko’s high-end Grand Seiko has just released two new watches that celebrate the changing of the seasons.
The pair of new models are part of the Heritage collection, and dubbed Soko. Both are inspired by Japan’s 24 ‘sekki’ – in Japan, each season is divided into six periods (for a total of 24 per year).
The new range is exclusive to the United States, and this Soko collection celebrates the end of Autumn. Inspiration includes the forest, just before winter arrives.
There are satin lines and green hands, which supposedly represent Kyoto’s bamboo forest, and it comes in two versions – shadow or light – which represents the slashes of light shining through a bamboo grove.
Under the hood you get a Spring Drive 9R65 Caliber, a handmade movement created out of the Shinshu Watch Studio in Japan.
The 39mm watch packs a 72 hour power reserve, along with a reserve indicator on the dial. It is water resistant, and accurate to one second per day.
The watch costs US$5,000 and is currently available via Seiko’s US online store.
