Starting July 6th, the Kingsman Special Edition TAG Heuer Connected will be exclusively available for one month via MR PORTER. It will appear as the first part in the wider Kingsman: The Golden Circle “costume to collection”, a continued collaboration between film director Matthew Vaughn and MR PORTER.
This is a landmark as TAG Heuer’s first global online launch, following its partnerships with Chinese online retailers JD.com and Tmall.com, and an integral part of the Swiss watch company’s strategy to connect more with a millennial audience.
The Kingsman Special Edition reproduces the aesthetic adopted by the agents in the movie: pink gold lugs and an elegant leather strap with Kingsman print. The watch even comes with a second strap in orange velvet, inspired by the soon-to-be-iconic orange velvet smoking jacket worn in the film by Taron Egerton. The key difference between the Kingsman Special Edition and the core collection lies in its dial functions. Available in either midnight blue or grey, the watch bears the Kingsman inscription and logo at 9 o’clock and 3 o’clock and even replaces the original Android Wear lighting with the film’s logo on the dial. In a final nod to the film, at 10:10 exactly, the watch’s dial vibrates for 10 seconds and the Kingsman logo appears. And if that doesn’t make you feel like a proper spy then we don’t know what will.
In terms of the watch’s internal workings, the Swiss Made TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 features an original concept in the field of connected watches: the connected module is interchangeable with an Haute Horlogerie mechanical module — a 3-hands or COSC-certified Chronograph Tourbillon. This modular concept also applies to the lugs, the strap, and the buckle. Developed in collaboration with Intel, the watch is: water-resistant to 50 metres, has a functioning GPS, an NFC payment sensor, a high-definition AMOLED display, and a selection of infinitely customisable TAG Heuer dials, with Android Wear 2.0 and a new Companion App available to enhance the software experience. It even tells the time.
Don’t just take our word for it though, as the TAG Heuer Connected watch was personally chosen by the film’s director, Matthew Vaughan, to be the timepiece of choice for his Kingsman agents: “For Kingsman: The Golden Circle, we needed a connected watch for our agents. We looked at the different options available, but none of them were elegant enough for a Kingsman. Then I saw an interview on Bloomberg TV with Jean-Claude Biver about his connected watch, and it became immediately obvious; the Kingsman agents would wear the TAG Heuer Connected.”
Priced at approximately Dhs 13,040, this watch will only be available for a month. Your mission is simple. You know what to do.
