The fashion powerhouse Dolce & Gabbana broke new ground last night with its first-ever fashion show held in the Middle East.
The luxury Italian did not hide its intention to go big with an 80 metre-long runway that snaked its way down the new Fashion Avenue extension in The Dubai Mall.

With a theme of “Day & Night” more than 120 models – half men and women – strutted along the runway showcasing as many looks, of which half the couture looks were exclusively created for the Middle East market.

What was very apparent for Esquire was the number of looks dedicated to menswear, approximately half of the show. Notable trends included high cropped trousers, studded footwear, bright emblazoned jackets, no long hair or beards, and not a single ankle was covered by a pesky sock.

Although the seating at the show was invitation-only, due to its location within an open mall thoroughfare, it was open for wider members of the public to snap and share pictures as they shopped.

As customary the men behind the brand, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, strode their way down the catwalk at the end bathing in the applause of a highly-appreciative crowd, in what teases to be a promising sign of things to come for fashion in the region.
