Vans streetwear meets Venice style

We’re firm believers that every man should have at least one pair of Vans – not only does its simple aesthetic pair well with most casual outfits but they’re also one of those rare breeds of shoe that actually starts to look even better once they’ve gotten a little beaten up. If you’re a bit of sneaker snob and have always seen yourself above the humble scuffed Vans, there’s no better time than now to hop on the Vans hype-train (or hype-van rather) as a new exciting collaboration between Vans and Alyx is now available for purchase on STYLEBOP.com.

And before you protest: yes, Alyx (supposedly pronounced ‘aye-leeks’) is primarily a women’s fashion label. However, this particular collaboration with Vans is unisex. Because your feet don’t have a gender.  If you’ve never heard of Alyx, the brand is a unique blend of high and low culture, primarily owing to it being a New York-based outlet that manufactures its pieces in Italy. With nods to his upbringing through his street-inspired designs, the brand’s founder and designer Matthew Williams adds an element of Italian luxury to solidify his commitment to producing high-quality garments.

This specific unisex collection isn’t the label’s first foray into the menswear world either, having already debuted a 2016 menswear line in collaboration with Hiroshi Fujiwara’s renowned ‘fragment design.’

Reintroducing the OG Style 138 LX, Authentic (convertible) 43 LX and OG 29 LX silhouettes for the first time in over two decades, this collab provides the best of both worlds as it utilizes a colour palette authentic to both the Vans and Alyx aesthetic. The Alyx branding is subtle yet still distinct enough to separate this from your run-of-the-mill sneaker, though we do have to admit that these are the sort of Vans we’d hesitate about scuffing.
