Zoku is the new lifestyle shoe from sneaker giant Reebok, pulling inspiration from the brand’s classic designs through the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s. Not only is it as stylish as you’d expect, it boasts one of Reebok’s newest technologies, the Ultraknit, which gives the shoe a sock-like feel, enhanced breathability and ultra-light comfort. All of which makes it the perfect summer shoe.
Esquire Middle East sats down with Reebok ambassador Future, on an exclusive press trip to discuss the new Zoku runner, his personal sneaker collection and why he loves Dubai so much.

Esquire: Tell us about how the Reebok partnership came about?
Future Hendrix: It was natural for me. It’s just about being fashion-forward, you know. It’s about actually connecting with the brand and it was great, I am a big fan. We often work together and I loved the shoe.
Is there pressure for you to be more fashion savvy?
No pressure. I don’t feel that. The only pressure I have is to make more new music. Good music.
So it just comes naturally to you then?
Yeah, my style is natural I would say.

Future
Obviously you have collaborated with many big names. Who is next on your hit list?
There are many, I just want to make great music.
Will this be an ongoing partnership with Reebok. Will we see you get involved in design? Clothing lines?
Yes, of course, you’re going to see me in the fashion world, it’s going to be big. I’m just taking one day at a time, but my aim is to push myself to do bigger, better things always.
How was Reebok to work with?
Great partners. We have worked together before, I always know it will be good.
What did you like about the Zoku runner?
More than anything else, its comfort. Shoes which are super comfortable, that’s important to me and these are. That’s important when you are on the road, especially when you’re travelling,
Are you travelling a lot these days?
Yep, I came to London yesterday, on a plane to New York now, and then in a couple of hours, I go straight back to Paris. But I don’t get jetlagged, I get cash-lagged when I’m not making money.
How do you relax on a day off?
No such thing as a day off.
OK, so your sneaker collection, how many pairs are we talking?
Over one thousand, easy.

Do fashion and music effect each other?
I think they do, they work together great. They are both creative, and I just want to be creative in everything that I do.
Have you been to the Middle East?
Yeah man. Dubai, I love Dubai, I’ve got a spot in Dubai, the Palace, baby.
Why do you love Dubai so much?
Love the restaurants, love the scenery. What happens in Dubai, stays in Dubai.
