The British comedian has hit a high point

Simon Pegg is no style icon. Funny, yes. Successful? Incredibly so. But he’s more known for withering British comedy than his stand-out wardrobe.

That’s not to say he’s poorly-dressed – the Hot Fuzz star is steady, if anything – but the term style icon has largely eluded Pegg. Until now, anyway.

Hot on the campaign trail for Mission: Impossible – Fallout, the 48-year-old touched down in Tokyo’s Haneda Airport with a perfect summer outfit in tow.

Not only did Pegg switch the dress shirt for a T-shirt (an easy dress-down move), every piece remained in-step colourwise: matching pocket square, lighter blue suit and white minimal kicks below. What’s more, a lighter two-piece lets you score smart points without risking sweat patches. Factor in the classic aviators, and the BAFTA nominee crafted a look that’s more ageless than Tom Cruise himself.

Maybe the ‘style icon’ label isn’t so strange after all.
