Saudi Arabia’s Prince Mohammed bin Salman has been linked with a takeover of Newcastle United

Saudi Arabia’s Prince Mohammed bin Salman remains keen to buy English Premier League giants Manchester United, despite continued speculation surrounding a potential takeover of Newcastle United, according to Arabian Business.

Bin Salman was linked to a £3.5 billion deal to buy the Old Trafford outfit around 18 months ago, but reports at the time said United’s owners, the Glazer family, who bought the club for £790m in May 2005, insisted they had no intention to sell.

According to a report in England’s Sunday Mirror, bin Salman is still focused on purchasing the Old Trafford outfit.

This is despite his name being linked as part of a consortium, led by businesswoman Amanda Staveley, to become the new owners of Newcastle United.

Newcastle owner Mike Ashley, a divisive figure among supporters, put the club up for sale in 2008.

Dubai-based Sheikh Khaled Bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s Bin Zayed Group has previously been linked with a takeover bid for Newcastle.
