The bout will take place in the same stadium as last year’s Crown Jewel event

WWE will return to Saudi Arabia this February 27, 2020, in Riyadh at the King Fahd International Stadium.

The bout was announced during WWE’s Royal Rumble and will take place at the same venue as last year’s 2019 Crown Jewel event.

Last year’s SuperShowdown event (which took place in June) was headlined by The Undertaker and Goldberg.

In November, WWE announced that it had expanded its partnership with the Saudi General Sports Authority and that it would guarantee two major events in the country each year until 2027.

Despite some criticism from fans, the WWE announced in a quarterly earnings report back in 2018 that it would be following through on the agreement with Saudi Arabia.

It said in a statement, “Similar to other U.S.-based companies who plan to continue operations in Saudi Arabia; the Company has decided to uphold its contractual obligations to the General Sports Authority and stage the event. Full-year 2018 guidance is predicated on the staging of the Riyadh event as scheduled.”

Following the Crown Jewel event last October, a number of WWE personnel had difficulties leaving the country. However the WWE said that the plane meant to fly its employees out of Saudi Arabia experienced mechanical issues.

WWE SuperShowdown will be shown live across the WWE Network and takes place a little over a week before the Elimination Chamber on March 8.
