While we’re all about staying off-grid (you’ve seen Enemy of the State, right?), there’s something intriguing about wearable tech and its ability to sum up a sporting performance.
Alright, so it’s probably the combination of getting an automated pat on the back and being able to crow over good results via social media, but the Polar V800 training computer is firmly on our wish list for the summer.
With integrated GPS and smart training options you can monitor your work – be it running, cycling, swimming or triathlon training – and then work out the right amount of recovery you need before you wearily lace up your runners again. Great for the over-trainers out there.
Not one for the Saturday afternoon jogger, this is for the guys who take their workout seriously – current Ironman world champ Frederik Van Lierde (pictured) is the ambassador – and every movement is registered, whether that’s kilometres pounded out on the street or stairs staggered up at night. It’s so impressive we wouldn’t be surprised if it knows when you’ve skived a gym session and gone out for pizza.
Finally, sync your data to the Polar Flow – not an Arctic weather condition – on your computer and it will create the perfect analysis of your performance. It basically does everything for you other than the actual training – which is where we might struggle to be honest. Get the watch first, train later… after all, you shouldn’t rush these things.
