While everyone is stuck at home, a big theme emerging from it is a LOT of home workout videos. With nothing else to do in isolation people are using their abundance of time to get fit instead. As a result, a lot of our favourite work out accoutrements have sold out online. People are actually panic buying kettlebells and weights for their home workouts. 

Many people, including this author, have been on the hunt for kettlebells to assist their home workouts, and the ones still available online have tripled in price in the last month.

Why is this one piece of equipment so much in demand? Well, it’s mainly because a kettlebell is a great combination of strength and cardio work. And any trainer will tell you that you can do the majority of exercises with a single weight, making it not only efficient but also saves space if you live in a tiny apartment. 

A price of a single kettlebell of varying weight can range from anywhere between AED 350 to AED 900 on Amazon.ae.

Creating and manufacturing a kettlebell is actually a pretty time consuming and complicated process despite the fact that it is in fact just a big piece of iron. The Hustle reports that in actuality, sixty-five percent of our exercise equipment comes from foundries in China, which in January 2020 halted production because of COVID-19.

In the United States, there are only a small number of  number of foundries able to build kettlebells right now. With gyms shut all over the world, retailers reported spikes as much as 625% in at-home equipment sales. GQ.com reports that a single foundry in Rhode Island, which is churning out between 40 to 50 per day.

While we tried to find some availble options it appears Reebok.ae are sold out of the 8 kg one, Sportsplanet.ae are sold out of all their kettlebells and TechnoGym allows you to configure your own and request a quote.
