Watching a big wave surfer at work is always breathtaking, but there are just some waves that are too big to comprehend—waves that make a human being look infinitesimal. One video of German surfer Sebastian Steudtner is truly something to behold, however, because it made SURFER Magazine wonder: Is this the biggest wave ever ridden?
Steudtner actually rode the wave back in October at Nazaré, but SURFER Magazine obtained the footage of the ride by Pedro Miranda, they wrote in the video’s YouTube description:
“Chances are that Steudtner did the right thing when he decided to cut out from under the wave before things turned nasty. For that same reason, it’s hard to gauge how big this beast was; he couldn’t even get to the bottom of it. Probably not the biggest wave ever ridden, but massive nonetheless.”
