According to Donald Trump, Mark Zuckerberg praised him over dinner (cheeseburgers?) saying he was “number one on Facebook”.
The President took to a conservative radio show to brag about the complement and his social media reach, as well as the assassination of Iranian general Qassem Soleimani.
Mark Zuckerberg and Trump have met on numerous occasions, both in public and in private. The Facebook CEO has refused to reveal details of the dinner while he was in Washington D.C. for a congressional hearing last October.
It’s not clear exactly what the phrase “number one on Facebook” actually means. Trump, with 25 million fans, isn’t even close to having the largest number of followers on the platform. That award goes to Cristiano Ronaldo (with 122 million followers) and Shakira (with 104 million).
Heck, even Vin Diesel has more followers than he does – at 101 million.
According to Trump, this is how the discussion played out:
“‘He [Zuckerberg] said ‘I’d like to congratulate you,’ in front of a large group of people. So I’m not… But he said, ‘I’d like to congratulate you, you’re number one on Facebook,'” Trump claimed.
‘This Morning’ co-host Gayle King asked Zuckerberg last December what the pair had talked about over dinner, and Zuckerberg played it a bit more coy than Trump.
“We talked about a number of things that were on his mind, and some of the topics that you read about in the news around our work.”
Sounds like a fun dinner.
