Almost six months ago, the Expo 2020 closed shut its doors and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum announced that it would undergo a transformation into Expo City Dubai.
Now, the new site will open this weekend with three new areas as part of its phased launch leading up to the full October 1 opening.
Whats open?
Alif, The Mobility Pavilion and Terra, The Sustainability Pavilion are two of the Expo 2020’s pavilions have remained in order to continue providing visitors with interactive experiences in science, arts, culture and more.
At Alif, visitors will learn how mobility has guided human progress over time as they’re educated on the past, present and future of movement.

Terra takes visitors on an immersive tour through the roots of the Earth’s forests as well as the depths of its oceans. The experience is meant to inform visitors and especially children how they affect the environment and encourages them to break the cycle of consumerism.
Visitors will also have access to the Garden in the Sky. A rotating observation standing 55 metres above ground that will provide 360 degree views of the entire Expo City. It’ll be open from 4pm until 9pm on Monday to Sunday and can take up to 48 visitors at a time. In October, it’ll be open for longer hours.
