The Marina is sat between Bluewaters and the Palm Jumeirah

Dubai’s latest iconic landmark is edging closer to opening. The Dubai Harbour Marina just took delivery of its first two yachts.

Located between Bluewaters Island and the Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Harbour Marina will eventually have space for more than 1,100 yachts. It is planning on opening up in two phases. The first two boats to berth there include a three-deck Majesty 120 and an Oryx 379 yacht by Gulf Craft.

The Harbour Marina project is built on reclaimed land out in the sea. It will include retail, restaurants, cafes, residents and hotels.

While early on in the project and it’s not yet open to the public, it’s good to see the Marina has not been delayed due to the Pandemic.

When finished, the Harbour Marina will also boast the Dubai Lighthouse – which will feature a luxury hotel and an observation deck that offers 360-degree views. It will also be used as an enormous screen for light shows.

The mega-project will eventually integrate Skydive Dubai, Dubai International Marine Club and Logo island into a single community.

Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said at the announcement of the project back in 2017: “We are happy that this new project, which represents a unique and innovative new addition to the region’s tourism landscape, opens up a range of new opportunities to investors.”

“Dubai Harbour creates a venue for new investments that support our vision for this important sector and promises to further accelerate the expansion of the tourism industry in the UAE, which is already growing rapidly. I am confident that the project will have a highly positive impact on our entire region’s tourism sector.

He added that Dubai Harbour is also set to enhance the city’s profile as a magnet for wealth and investment. The project promises to be an attractive destination for GCC yacht owners, who own one third of the world’s largest superyachts.
