The online event will champion wildlife and climate first

This year will see Saudi Arabia officially ‘host’ the United Nations G20 summit – albeit, online.

Still, it might still do a lot of good. World leaders have said they want to cut down on pollution and embrace greater sustainability, all in a bid to halt the destruction of nature on Earth.

Leaders such as Emmanuel Macron, Angela Merkel, Justin Trudeau, Jacinda Arden and Boris Johnson are among a total of 64 leaders who have said that the world is in planetary crisis. It is expected that governments will unveil a new 10-point pledge to counteract environmental challenge.

The event was supposed to be hosted in Riyadh on November 21 – 22, however has now been moved into the digital space.

After helping the planet against climate change, we imagine the current global pandemic will be a hot topic of discussion. “The G20 has contributed over $21 billion to support the production, distribution and access to diagnostics, therapeutics and vaccines,” the G20 said in a statement.

It has also added more than US$11 trillion into the global economy and created a debt suspension program for developing countries.
