Starting tomorrow, Sunday, September 19, you will no longer need to get tested to enter the UAE’s capital.
Abu Dhabi authorities announced today that it will no longer require a PCR test for Covid-19 to enter the emirate from all other emirates.
According to the officials, the move was made due to a recent drop in cases. Last week, only 0.2 percent of those tested were found to be positive.
The requirement had been in place for over a year. Previously, all those enterying Abu Dhabi had to show the police a recent PCR test that showed they were negative.
Across the UAE, cases are now about 500 a day, with 80 percent of the population fully vaccinated.

“The decision follows the announcement of a decreased Covid-19 infection rate in the emirate of 0.2 per cent of total tests and the activation of the green pass system to enter some public places,” said the Abu Dhabi Media Office.
“The committee will continue to monitor infection rates and urges all citizens, residents and visitors to continue adhering to precautionary measures to protect public health and safety, maintain successes and advance the nation’s sustainable recovery.”
Abu Dhabi has also ended its need for an electronic wristband during home quarantine for those coming from abroad. That move also goes into effect on September 19.

“The committee has approved continued strict adherence to home quarantine procedures and required testing schedules based on personal responsibility, as well as monitoring by healthcare systems to ensure compliance with precautionary measures. Violators will be reported to the Attorney-General,” it added.

“The Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee for the Covid-19 Pandemic has updated the entry procedure to Abu Dhabi emirate from within the UAE, and has approved the cancellation of Covid-19 testing requirements to enter, effective Sunday, 19 September 2021.
