Following a Cabinet meeting chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, discussions of new designs for Emirati passports and Emirates IDs were announced in November last year.
The new identity documents have key innovations that aim to combat identity theft and have additional national and international safety in travel documents.
The Emirates ID is an identification for every UAE resident and citizen and issued by the ICA.
The ICA previously also came out with a digital model of the ID through the authority’s app.
