The massively-anticipated Friends: The Reunion has hit streaming across the world, and the special, which comes 17 years after the phenomenon series went off the air, has provided plenty of moments for long-time fans of the series to laugh, cry, and ponder over.
While it was sadly revealed that we’ll never get another episode of Friends during the special by Lisa Kudrow (read more here on that), the cast did imagine what their characters would be doing 17 years after we last saw them each find their happy ending.
Jennifer Aniston, whose character Rachel was last seen finally deciding to be with David Schwimmer’s Ross after 10 years of will-they-wont-they, imagined martial bliss for her and Schwimmer’s characters.
“I think we would end up getting married and having some kids, and [Ross] would still be playing with Bones,” Aniston said.
Monica, on the other hand, played by Courtney Cox, was last seen deciding to move out of New York City with Chandler (Matthew Perry). Cox believes she would have taken strongly to suburban life.
“I think my character is still really competitive. Her kids are probably graduated but she’s still in charge of the bake sale at an elementary school. She’s just got to keep things going, PTA, and [Chandler] is still making me laugh every day,” Cox said.
Lisa Kudrow, who played Phoebe in the series, imagines a similar life for her and Mike, who was played by Paul Rudd in the show’s final two seasons.
“Phoebe is married to Mike, she’s probably in Connecticut, they had kids, and she’s probably the advocate for all the kids who are just a little different,” said Kudrow.
Joey, on the other hand, is not in the suburbs married somewhere, but he did find his happy ending with the true love of his life.
“I’d say he probably opened a sandwich shop in Venice Beach,” says LeBlanc.
