Floating houses, which are exactly what they sound like they are, have just launched in Dubai.
Someone has already bought one too–the first was purchased by Dubai-based businessman Balvinder Sahani, also known as Abu Salah, for AED 20 million.
The floating sea resort Neptune is the first in the world to offer ‘environmentally friendly’ floating houses, according to Neptune.
The houses are constructed by UAE-based ship and vessel manufacturing firm Seagate Shipyard. These two-storey floating homes are over 900 square metres, containing four bedrooms with attached bathrooms, balcony, kitchen, living rooms, two additional rooms for workers as well as a glass swimming pool, giving you the choice of pool water or seawater. Whatever floats your boat house.

The first floating house was launched in Ras Al Khaimah at Al Hamra Port and will be floated to Jumeirah.
Following international safety guidelines, the houses are solar powered and utilize a self-sterilising system and a smart-automated system that completely operates the house. Smart technologies are used to treat wastewater.
If you want to escape a noisy neighbor (perhaps a particularly chatty dolphin?) or simply feel like a change of scenery at some point, then you’re in luck. The houses are able to move safely from one place to another using specialized hydraulic engines.
Estimated to be completed in the first quarter of 2023, The Neptune sea resort will feature a luxury hotel containing 156 suites and rooms while being surrounded by 12 residential floating boats.
