Electric vehicle owners will get free parking across Dubai at parking spaces that have special green signs

Electric vehicles such as the omnipresent Tesla get you a lot of benefits in Dubai—special parking spots at the mall, the envy of all your friends, and turned heads when you pull up to the valet.

There’s a few benefits that electric vehicle owners will gain in the emirate, and they may be the sweetest: free parking and a free Salik tag.

That’s right, the Road and Transport Authority (RTA) have a couple sweeteners to encourage electric vehicle ownership. It’s part of Dubai’s Green Mobility strategy, which is looking to aid the environment for a better future.

Parking is free for four hours, according to the RTA.

Until July 2022, various spots in Dubai will be offering special parking spots for electric vehicles. They are be easy to spot, as they feature installed green signs, indicating that they’re for electric vehicles.

And yes let us stress that again—these are free parking spots. If you have a listed electric vehicle, you will be exempted from parking fees automatically.

Also, if you have an electric vehicle, head to one of the 13 Salik customer service centers across the UAE and submit your vehicle’s registration card, as you wil get a free Salik tag once you’ve registered.

That doesn’t mean that all tolls will be free though, just the tag itself. Drivers will still be charged when passing through Salik gates.
