Director Matt Reeves gave audiences their first look at The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson yesterday.
The teaser trailer has got fans excited for a new take on the Dark Knight, also starring Catwoman, Penguin and Riddler.
Throughout the trailer, several coded messages from the Riddler (played by Paul Dano) can be seen, including one written on a condolence card. It says, “something does liar something when dead” followed by a coded string of symbols.
Well, Mike Selinker a game designer has figured out what those symbols mean.
He used a ‘brute force’ method to solve the code (that is just guessing over and over again until he got it right). The solution to the puzzle?
“What does the liar do when he’s dead? He lies still.”

It must reference a character being duct-taped at the beginning of the trailer, that is later seen with the words, “no more lies” on his face.
There is still a lot more to go before The Batman releases in 2021. No doubt there will be a few more coded messages coming from The Riddler in future.
