Even on the beach, you need to be following the rules

The Dubai Police are reminding beachgoers to maintain social distancing measures. They handed out 221 fines on Sunday, to those breaking the rules.

Colonel Saeed Al Madhani, director of Ports Police Station in Dubai, has said more than 316 people have been fined over the past week.

“Many Dubai beaches witnessed thousands of beach-goers since easing the measures.” He said to Gulf News.

“We noticed many of them insist to sit near the beaches’ facilities without adhering to safe distancing.”

Those caught not maintaining social distancing measures, wearing a mask or gathering in groups larger than five people were given AED3,000 fines.

Dubai Police has increased patrols around local beaches, as well as using drones to catch offenders.

However, Colonel Al Madhani did say that a vast majority of beachgoers were following the rules.
