Amazon Prime will release El Presidente on Friday, which will provide football fans some much-needed entertainment.
The new show revolves around 2015’s ‘Fifagate’ scandal, and tells the story through the eyes of Sergio Jadue – the vice president of CONMEBOL (South America’s football governing body).
The new show was filmed mainly in Spanish with subtitles, with its main character quickly getting caught up in the international scandal; bribery, fraud and even violence.
It is being hailed as Amazon’s version of Netflix Narcos, but with a football twist. The show was actually co-produced by the same French company behind Netflix’s hit drugs’ series.
The new show kicks of on Friday, with weekly episodes that will hopefully tide over football fans until official matches kick off at the end of the summer.
