The emirate of Abu Dhabi has banned the entry and exit of residents to and from the emirate for a week in order to curb the spread of coronavirus.
The National reports that residents of Abu Dhabi city, Al Ain and Al Dhafra can travel within their cities but not enter or leave them – and cannot go to other emirates.
“A ban on movement entering and exiting the emirate and between its regions [Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra] starting from Tuesday June 2 for one week,” Abu Dhabi Media office tweeted.
Movement by citizens and residents within the major cities – Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra – is still allowed subject to the emirate’s stay-at-home timings during the National Disinfection Programme hours of 10pm to 6am.
While permits will be made available to people working in vital sectors, patients with chronic diseases in-need of hospitalisation and transporters of necessary goods.

Movement within each region is allowed in line with National Sterilisation Programme hours.

However, Abu Dhabi’s hotel beaches, museums and restaurants outside malls, such as in hotels, are slated to reopen as long as customers are at 40 per cent of the venue’s capacity.
