A six-month-old ‘miracle’ baby has just recovered from coronavirus, despite a previously determined heart condition.
Erin Bates defeated the coronavirus after two weeks in an isolation unit. According to British tabloid The Sun, Bates had open heart surgery in December (just two months after her birth).
In April, while in recovery, she was diagnosed with coronavirus and was taken in to hospital in her native Liverpool for treatment.
Photos of the baby posted to social media show her hooked up to an oxygen machine, and surrounded with tubes providing life-giving support to the six-month-old.
But in some good news, Bates was discharged after recovering from the COVID-19 virus. Hospital staff were filmed applauding as her cot was wheeled out of the hospital’s critical care unit.
“Today, little Erin beat COVID-19 after testing negative and received a guard of honour by the treating team on our HDU as she was moved out of isolation ,” said Alder Hey Hospital – where Bates was treated – in a video on Facebook.
According to social media, Bates has indeed made a full recovery and is “all smiles” according to her father.
