The ‘ReBurberry Edit’ features the brand’s signature pieces, this time in environmentally-friendly materials

Burberry used Earth Day to announce the re-release of certain products from its spring-summer 2020 collection, this time made form sustainable materials.

The brand also included a new labelling system, to inform consumers about the environmental impact of its products.

Burberry has long been a first to champion things like sustainability within the fashion industry, and its new labelling is no different. The new pistachio green labels on the brand’s clothes gives consumers easy-to-read information on the environmental impact of the product they now own.

The new system will inform customers how much organic or recycled fibers were used in the making of the product, as well as the carbon emissions used. Ultimately, Burberry wants to include information such as its workers’ wages and the well0-being programmes it offers.

“At the half-way point of our Responsibility Strategy to 2022, we remain dedicated to delivering tangible progress against our social and environmental targets, and our holistic, product-focused sustainability programs are central to this,” explained vice president of corporate responsibility at Burberry, Pam Batty.

Burberry also announced the launch of a ‘ReBurberry Edit’ a capsule collection featuring pieces from its 2020 collection that have been re-made in sustainable materials.

There are 26-pieces in all, including the brand’s iconic trench coats, parkas and capes -a ll made from Econyl fiber. It has also made use of a new nylon material, made from castor oil and assembled using polyester thread from recycled plastic bottles.

The new collection is available from burberry.com
