Just hours after new cases were reported, 12 people are in full recovery

Hours after the UAE’s Ministry of Health announced 14 new cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) here in the UAE, it shared that five cases were fully recovered.

That means of the 59 confirmed cases here in the UAE, 12 of them have recovered in full (20 per cent).

Recovered COVID-19 cases: 12
Total COVID-19 cases: 59

The news comes hours after Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Contre extended quarantine rules in Northern Italy to the entire country. As of right now, only emergency travel is allowed in the country (Europe’s worst-hit by the COVID-19 virus) with penalties up to three years in prison.

Meanwhile, in the UAE, schools have been shut down for a mandatory four week period to halt the potential spread of the virus. The decision is relevant to all private and public schools.

On its Twitter page, the Ministry of Health advised all students and workers to adhere to a 14-day at-home quarantine.

“Our top priority is the health & safety of our community – from Sunday March 8 to Saturday April 4, training institutes & educational service centres in UAE must close their premises to students & deliver all training through distance learning only,” said the Ministry on Twitter.
