“Now here’s a little story I’ve got to tell/ About three bad brothers you know so wellIt started way back in history/ with Adrock, (M.C.A.) and me (Mike D.)”.

The famous stanza of the Beastie Boys song “Paul Revere”, is the perfect engaging opening to the new documentary of the band that was at the top of their game in the early 1990s. The documentary titled Beastie Boys Story, is directed by Spike Jonze who also directed their iconic music video for their 1994 song “Sabotage”.

“There are some friends you have lunch with so many times over the years, you know their order,” Diamond and Horovitz recently said in a statement.

“Spike is one of those friends. And even when you don’t recognize anything on the menu, he comes up with something good for the whole table. Like when we wondered what to do when our book comes out … then Spike placed his order: ‘You will put on a show for the children.’”

The film was co-written with the surviving members of the Beastie Boys Mike D and Ad-Rock and follows their journey with Adam “MCA” Yauch who died of cancer in 2012.  It’s based on their recently published 2018 memoir the Beastie Boys Book.

The documentary will premiere during the 26th anniversary of the release of their 1994 album, Ill Communication, and will debut on Apple TV+ on April 24.
