They say ‘love thy neighbour’ but one man is finding it extremely hard to do just that right now. Mohamed Hadid is going through a tough time after his neighbours alleged that his half-built 100 million dollar property was endangering other houses. Not only is he legally required to demolish his mansion in Los Angeles, but a bankruptcy judge rejected his Chapter 11 filing over the mansion.
Hadid is better known for being the father of supermodels Bella and Gigi and is a Jordanian-American real estate developer of Palestinian origin.
In an interview with the Daily Mail, Hadid has critised the ‘nasty’ campaign run by his neighbours.
Hadid said: ”The whole thing has been a nightmare. Yes, I regret starting it. It has destroyed my life, it has destroyed my reputation and affected my family.”
He recently also filed for bankruptcy, but it was rejected by the judge after his neighbours once again claimed it was filed in “bad faith” to avoid the demolition order issued by the court.
Now, the four neighbors suing Mohamed Hadid over the half-built structure have asked for an emergency bankruptcy court hearing next week to make sure the demolition doesn’t get sidelined.
“The sole purpose of the bankruptcy filing was to delay (the) order from taking effect and that is not a legitimate purpose,” the dismissal motion granted by the judge said.
However, Hadid’s lawyer has denied all claims of wrongdoing.
