Deontay Wilder knocked out Luis Ortiz with an impressive single punch to retain WBC heavyweight title. The 32-year-old Wilder now has an 42-0-1, with 41 knockouts record and this was his 10th WBC world heavyweight title defence.
Until the seventh round knock out, 40-year-old Ortiz had managed to outbox Wilder for the entirety of the lucklustre fight.

“I finally found my measurement and I took the shot,” Wilder said post fight. “I had to play around with him. I had to calculate certain moves. My intellect is very high in the ring and no one gives me credit,” he added.
“I think I buzzed him with a left hook earlier in the round and I took it from there.”
The fight was a rematch of a bout last year when Wilder knocked out Ortiz on the 10th round.
Wilder is set to fight Tyson Fury next in a rematch on February 23 after their disputed first fight was called a draw.
“Next we have Tyson Fury in the rematch,” Wilder said.
The boxing heavyweight division is set for an exciting few months with the upcoming Andy Ruiz Jr and Anthony Joshua rematch in Saudi Arabia in December. However Wilder implied that he then wants to fight the winner of that fight post Fury.
“Then I want unification. I want one champion, one face and one heavyweight champion – Deontay Wilder,” he said.
