Ikea’s new collection with Virgil Abloh is probably one of its most anticipated one yet where functionality meets fashion. The company calls it “fashion you can’t wear” and right they are.
This Ikea line will be called Markerad, which means “clear-cut,” “crisp,” or “pronounced” in Swedish.
Launching in November 2019, this range stylishly fuses functionality with street cred and high cultural references.
The collection consists of a range of fashion-forward homewares that cater towards fluid and contemporary living, including a day bed, table, chair, mirror, lighting, bed textiles, cabinet and accessories.
The collection will range anywhere from $19.99 to more than $139. Some of the stand out pieces are a rug in the form of a shopping receipt ($99), brown shopping bags with “Sculpture” written on the front ($19.99 to $24.99), and a wooden chair with a doorstop attached to one of the legs ($139).
“The ethos of the collection is to add an artful quality to anonymous objects,” Virgil Abloh said in a recent release.
The new collection will be available in store in November 2019.
