The new wax statue was revealed in Las Vegas

90’s R&B darling Aaliyah, has been given a very special honour by the Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. The singer’s wax statue was revealed before the 18th anniversary of her tragic death.

The Las Vegas based museum chose to go with the singer’s famous “Try Again” look.

Best known for her 2000 hit ‘Try Again’ from the movie Romeo Must Die – which she starred in alongside Jet Li – American singer, actress and model Aaliyah was one of the country’s best known music icons before dying in a plane crash in the Bahamas in 2001 at the age of 22.

The Daily Mail reports that this particular wax figure was in the works for over a year and a half, according to Adam Morey, Studios Manager at Madame Tussauds Las Vegas.

Aaliyah’s brother was instrumental in this process, according to reports.

“I was involved in the process from the inception of the project,” Rashad Haughton said via email statement to Vibe magazine. “The team at Madame Tussauds welcomed a collaborative effort in choosing the pose and look of my sister’s figure. They made sure my mother and I were comfortable and supported through an amazing but understandably emotional process.”
