Bill Gates is easily one of the richest people in the world, being only one of three centibillionaires currently living. Right now though, his worth puts him in the third spot on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, the lowest spot for him since the list began almost a decade ago.
If Bill Gates and his wife Melinda weren’t such generous people, Gates would actually comfortably be the richest person in the world. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is the largest private charitable cause in the world, with a focus on world health, education, and poverty.
Bill and Melinda Gates
Gates has given over $35 billion to his eponymous foundation. If he hadn’t, his worth would actually put him as the richest man on earth, above Jeff Bezos’ $125 billion worth.
$35 billion is a lot. Just a single billion is enough to buy you over 150 Bugatti hypercars.
Gates is now worth a mere $107.4 billion, $200 million less than Bernard Arnault.
Arnault is the LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton group CEO and chairman, basically what this means is that he owns the vast majority of the luxury brands you know and love. These brands include: Fendi, Givenchy, Dior, TAG Heuer, Hublot, Louis Vuitton, Hennessy and countless others.
Bernard Arnault
As Esquire Middle East recently wrote, Arnault joined the league of mega rich as a rising stock value in his company put him in the $100 billion mark. Arnault’s rise comes after he added $39 billion dollars to his fortune in 2019, by far the biggest individual increase by anyone on the rankings.
Bezos, the man behind the Amazon empire itself, is still sitting pretty on top with around $25 billion more than Gates and Arnault.
