There’s been a lot of excitement for Dubai‘s latest project — Dubai stars. It’s going to be a big hit with the tourists and the residents alike with some of the world’s biggest celebrities in every field included on the list.
Located in Downtown Dubai, the ‘walk of fame’ will be a series of stars that will honour more than 10,000 international celebrities of stage and screen. Around 400 of those will be revealed in October this year.
The Hollywood Walk of Fame is already one of the biggest attractions in Los Angeles. So it doesn’t come as a surprise that Emaar – the developer behind much of Dubai’s Downtown District – wants to repeat some of the Hollywood magic.
So far there have been some heavy hitters announced already.
FILM
Shah Rukh Khan
King Khan of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan, is all set to get a star on Dubai’s walk of fame. He will be the second recipient of a Dubai Star, and the news was revealed on the Dubai Stars’ official Twitter account.
Khan is also the ambassador of Dubai Tourism and has fronted the emirate’s Be My Guest promo. The actor recently completed 27 years in the film industry and made his movie debut in the 1992 Hindi film ‘Deewana’.
Jackie Chan
Jackie Chan loves Dubai and Dubai loves him as well. Dubai is not a new filming destination to Chan; it’s one of his preferred filming destinations He was in Dubai this time for his next film, Vanguard, directed by Stanley Tong.
The Rock
Dwayne Johnson, also known as ‘The Rock’, is getting his own star as well. He’s one of Hollywood’s highest paid actors. The Rock’s $22 million fee for Red Notice in 2018 includes $1 million for social media promotion to his 12.9 million Twitter followers, 58 million Facebook followers and 105.7 million Instagram followers. He’s also given us amazing hits like the rebooted Jumanji, Baywatch and Moana. He will next be seen in the Fast & Furious spinoff Hobbs & Shaw, which stars Johnson alongside Jason Statham and Idris Elba, is set to premiere this August.
Ranveer Singh
Is it any surprise that Bollywood heart throb Ranveer Singh is on this list? The former Esquire cover star has had hit after hit.

SPORT
Lionel Messi
The 32 year-old Argentinian football star is also the face of Expo 2020 Dubai’s official campaign. In May, Expo 2020 Dubai announced Messi had been chosen to appear a new campaign in which the Barcelona FC player and people around the planet work together to keep an Expo 2020-branded ball airborne.
In 2016, Messi – who is also a UN Sustainable Development Goals advocate and UNICEF goodwill ambassador – was appointed as an Expo global ambassador.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni
The ex-Indian skipper who is currently part of the Cricket World Cup squad has been given a Dubai star as well.
LITERATURE
Khalil Gibran
The Lebanese-American poet, author, illustrator and journalist is all set to get a star under the literature category. The Prophet author who died more than 80 years ago is the latest to be honoured with a star by Dubai.

ARTS
Elie Saab
Lebanese fashion designer Elie Saab was the first recipient of the Dubai star. The star was presented to him by Emaar chairman Mohamed Alabbar as he announced the company’s first partnership with Saab on its Emaar Beachfront project in Dubai.
Abdul Majeed Abdullah
This won’t be the Saudi Arabian musician’s first time being featured in Downtown Dubai. The star singer’s music single Ensan Akthar is a part of the Dubai Fountains’ playlist.
BTS
K-Pop megastars BTS have announced the next stop of their ‘Love Yourself: Speak Yourself’ world tour and it is none other than Riyadh in Saudi Arabia. The band will make their KSA debut at the Kind Fadh International Stadium on October 11. BUt even more importantly, the boy band have been given their very own Dubai star!
