A Leonardo Da Vinci masterpiece, whose whereabouts has been a mystery since it sold in 2017 for a record $450 million is reportedly on a yacht. But it’s not just any regular yacht. “Salvator Mundi” is being kept on superyacht Serene owned by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman.
Now while the reports are unconfirmed, MBS’s 439-foot (134-metre) Serene, was last located in the Red Sea off Sharm el-Sheikh.
Bloomberg reports that Saudi Arabia plans to create a cultural hub in the Kingdom’s Al-Ula region. The project is still in an “exploratory phase,” and it will remain aboard the yacht until the hub is complete.
You may not have heard, but apparently it is now a trend for billionaires to keep their priceless artwork on their expensive yachts.
However the painting is the subject of massive controversy as many art experts argue over whether the painting is real. Many say it was not painted by the Italian master personally but instead by his workshop.
