It looks like the Under 20 FIFA World Cup could be held in the Middle East in 2021. If rumours are to be believed then the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain will submit a joint bid to host the FIFA U20 World Cup 2021.
The Gulf neighbours are among eight FIFA member associations who submitted expressions of interest to host the tournament, FIFA announced on Thursday on its official website.
The other rival bids will be submitted by the Brazilian Football Association, the Football Association of Indonesia, the Peruvian Football Association and a joint bid by the Myanmar Football Federation and The Football Association of Thailand.
The deadline to formally submit bids is August 30, with a decision due by the FIFA Council at its meeting in the fourth quarter of 2019.
The UAE has successfully held FIFA events in the past: The 2003 FIFA Youth World Championship, the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup and the Club World Cup on four occasions. In January, it also held the biggest ever AFC Asian Cup, with 24 teams taking part.
The 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup kicked off in Poland on Thursday and will run until June 15.
