Dubai is known for its love of the superlative. We have the world’s only seven-star hotel, the world’s tallest building, the world’s largest indoor theme park, and soon the city will have the world’s tallest observation wheel — Ain Dubai.
Standing at more than 250 metres high, Ain Dubai will be the world’s tallest observation wheel and will stand over 200 percent taller than the world’s first ever Ferris wheel. Almost 25 percent more steel used in to construct Ain Dubai than iron was used on The Eiffel Tower. Think about that for a second.
On Wednesday, the eighth and final 450-tonne temporary spoke has been removed for the structure, while the last of the wheel’s permanent spoke cables has been installed.

But Ain Dubai is not going to be your regular run of the mill Ferris wheel. Visitors will also be able to scale up the central frame of the Ain Dubai, then abseil down again from 150 metres, assisted of course by expert climbers and abseilers.
According to Dubai Media Office, the wheel is made out of 192 cable wires, totaling 2,400km, which is the same distance between Dubai and Cairo.
Other interesting facts include: the length of each permanent spoke is longer than a professional football pitch and the weight of the wheel rim is equivalent 16 Airbus A380s.
The other notable observation wheels around the world are the world’s second tallest observation wheel – the High Roller in Las Vegas, USA at 167 metres and the world’s third tallest observation wheel – the London Eye in London, United Kingdom at 135 metres.
However, the exact date has still not been revealed but we’re excited for another of Dubai’s major attractions to join the exclusive list of superlatives.
