Chef Izu’s latest venture Gaia topped Esquire Middle East’s Best Restaurants 2019 list

Dubai-based chef Izu Ani, the man behind Carine and Gaia restaurants in Dubai will be taking over the restaurant space previously held by Chris and Jeff Galvin in City Walk.

The French restaurant, Galvin Dubai has closed after 18 months at City Walk, according to reports

Caterer Middle East reports it was the second concept opened in Dubai by the brothers whose restaurants in London have two Michelin stars, but it closed permanently on Sunday, March 31, 2019.

Chef Izu’s latest venture Gaia topped Esquire Middle East’s Best Restaurants 2019 list and it is a striking Greek restaurant in the heart of DIFC’s Gate Village. The chef has become the golden boy of the Dubai food scene thanks to a string of hits (La Serre), after hit (The Lighthouse), after hit (Carine).

There’s little information on the new concept however hoardings outside the restaurant feature a pair of chopsticks and an oragami bird.

The Crown Prince of Dubai Sheikh Hamdan is also a huge fan of the chef’s work.
