What happened on the second day of Townhouse

Day two of the Esquire Townhouse is going to continue much in the same way as our blockbuster day one, but with a definite ‘Italian’ feel to it.

Our invite-only first arrive at a stunning AED60 million private villa on Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah and then treated to private tours around the multiple activations and installations within the Townhouse.

For today, with expected style, the awe-inspiring Alfa Romeo museum room is a real highlight, with audio-visual activations allowing the guests to truly immerse themselves in the heritage of the famed automotive marque.

Kicking the first Esquire Talks of the day was Francesco Moreschi, one of the grandsons of the famous Italian shoe brand, Moreschi. He spoke to an enthralled crowd about the commitment and dedication it takes to preserved and evolves a heritage brand in today’s world. The talk was perfectly complimented by the Moreschi room, where the brand had flown in one of their most talented artisans to demonstrate the hand-painted process decimated to each pair of bespoke Moreschi shoes.

Following a private lunch by newly opened Italian restaurant Alici, all with the spectacular backdrop of the Townhouse and Dubai’s impressive Marina skyline.

As guest continued to filter through the house, many of them stopped to inquire about the high-tech fitness machines from Technogym housed in our wellness room. More than just a gym-equipment company, Technogym is creating full-circle, user-friendly solution to people in a time-poor world.

The main event was something quite special indeed. Alfa Romeo’s head of exterior design Alessandro Maccolini, sat down with Esquire’s Editor-in-chief, Matthew Baxter-Priest, to explain how he creates and curates the design language for the famous brand, no simple task considering the passion and emotion that runs through both the brand and car enthusiasts as a whole.

The talk was finished by a live hand-drawn example of the design process from the man who for the past 21 years has helped define the future of Alfa Romeo.

As the sunset and the people soon sampled the sensational drinks served from the pop-up bar courtesy of Morimoto Dubai, a private list of VIP guest sat down for dinner served courtesy of Dubai’s best Italian restaurant Il Borro Tuscan Bistro.
