The Dubai Film and TV Commission announced VIDXB – a gathering of the world’s digital media elite

Dubai will play host to the region’s first gathering of content creators from the Middle East and beyond. Announced by the Dubai Film and TV Commission, the event – dubbed VIDXB – will happen this December 8 and 9 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

The event is all about celebrating the UAE’s current generation of content creators, introducing some of the biggest names in digital video to the Middle East, as well as inspiring a new generation of YouTubers to start sharing their stories online.

VIDXB will feature content creators, media influencers, fan communities and industry professionals, with a series of meet and greets, workshops, parties, screenings and a whole lot more.

The Dubai Film and TV Commission plan on using this event to kick off a year-round series of programs meant to promote local content, and showcase emerging technologies to further develop Dubai’s burgeoning media talent pool.

According to VIDXB, “Online activity in MENA is at an all-time high, with youth ages 15 to 24 spending nearly two hours a day on video and social networks. This “mobile-first, always-connected” ethos is evident in the region’s vibrant community of successful creators, influencers, gamers and digital entrepreneurs who are disrupting traditional business models and giving voice to locally relevant content.”

The event will feature content creators from a variety of platforms and in multiple genres. There will be training courses from the likes of YouTube, Facebook and Snap Inc. Along with some of the biggest content creators in the fields of lifestyle, beauty, gaming, technology and sports.

In short, the UAE is getting a heck of a lot more influencers starting 2018.
