All you eco-warriors can breathe a sigh of relief as Tesla has officially opened its first retail store and service centre in Dubai. The new 17,000 square feet store and service centre is located on Sheikh Zayed Road, opposite to the Burj Khalifa and The Dubai Mall Metro Station.
With the award-winning, all-electric Model S and Model X on show, the store also includes a Tesla design studio to help you learn more about clean energy and the future of electic vehicles. You can even sign up for a test drive at www.tesla.com to see if it really does feel like the real deal. And you certainly wouldn’t be the first to do so seeing as the first orders of Model S and Model X vehicles already arrived in the UAE this June.
In addition to having the option of charging your car at home, Tesla has also ensured that an adequate electric vehicle charging network – which includes both Destination chargers and Superchargers – is in place across the Emirates.
With two Supercharger sites already in the UAE, and three more planned by the end of the year, drivers will be able to recharge their vehicles in mere minutes. Tesla also has 32 regular Destination Charging locations currently available, with at least 18 set to become operational in the next six months. So if you do run out of power it’s really your own fault.
With an industry-leading NEDC range of up to 632 km, Tesla’s award-winning Model S is designed from the ground up to be the safest, most environmentally friendly car on the road. The Model S also doesn’t wimp out in terms of power as its all-electric powertrain can accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in just 2.7 seconds.
The Model X is the larger of the two vehicles on offer and is described by Tesla as the “safest, fastest and most capable SUV on the road”. With standard all-wheel drive and up to 565 km of range on a single charge, we’re hard-pressed to disagree. Including ample seating for up to seven adults, the Model X is ideal for families and large groups. Not to be put to shame by its svelter counterpart, the Model X is also incredibly fast, accelerating from zero to 100 kph in as quickly as 3.1 seconds.
Prices start from Dhs281, 350 for the Model S and Dhs332,500 for Model X. So, c’mon, do the planet a favour.
