Huawei has quietly upgraded its GT 2 Pro smartwatch, and new wrist-computer is now available here in the UAE.
The smartwatch has been machined out of a single block of titanium this time around, and looks pretty great complete with a sapphire crystal glass surface and ceramic caseback (which are the same materials used in traditional fine watchmaking).
Inside it runs Huawe’s custom LiteOS operating system, which is both a benefit and a hindrance in our view. On the plus, that means it makes the most of the GT 2’s battery life, and is blazingly quick out the box. On the downside, that means third-party apps are a little bit lacking (there is no Strava running app, for example).
The watch will relay notifications from your mobile – and now works nicely with the iPhone (which is great news for those looking to upgrade their Apple Watch), and data picked up by the watch will now sync natively with the likes of Apple Health, Google Fit and MyFitnessPal.

You get two straps available – a leather and silicone strap, meaning you can dress up or down depending on the occasion. And despite being made from a solid chunk of titanium, it is still as comfortable as ever.
The Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro comes with a 1.39-inch OLED display, that will work in bright sunlight. You also get wireless charging support, which is fantastic (although, with a touted five day battery life charging is less of an issue).
The Huawei GT 2 Pro is indeed a premium smartwatch, and comes with the pricing to match: US$270 (AED1,000). But, that means it slots in nicely at the top end of the GT 2 collection, which also includes regular and budget models.
