Garmin has just released an e-sports watch that will – in part – track the health of professional gamers and even let Twitch streamers broadcast their biometric stats to their fans live.
The new Instinct Smartwatch has all the usual health bells and whistles, including a live stress feature which will motor heart rate when gamers are in tight situations. The watch can also be synced to your smartphone for notifications.
Garmin now also has a ‘Body Battery Energy Monitor’ which will factor in sleep and body metrics to determine energy health. That should give gamers a bit more information about whether they should be pushing themselves late into the night, or if they need a bit of a rest.
The watch is good for 80-hours on a single charge, and costs US$300.
According to Garmin, they expect players to use the watch both inside and outside their profession.
“With the Instinct Esports Edition, esports athletes can tap into that same technology to track and examine how their body responds to intense competition. Players can also use Instinct’s data to make adjustments in their daily lives, whether it be altering sleep patterns or activity levels, which can result in increased cognitive and physical performance during play.”
The new watch will be out later this year.
