For those who can’t afford a Bentley but want the audible pleasure of riding in one, the marquis has unveiled new headphones and speakers with the same attention to detail as its luxury cars.
Bentley chose two audio partners to help get the right frequency of its motors, Naim and Focal. Both are extremely high-end purveyors of audio equipment.
The result is a headphone and speaker combo that looks like something straight from the brand’s Mulliner factory floor.
Naim regularly works with Bentley, and has been for the past 12 years. It produces the speakers that go inside the cars, and so it’s no surprise that they were chosen to create speakers for outside of them.
The Bentley speaker is an upgraded version of Naim’s Mu-so unit, with a wooden finish crafted from a sustainable African hardwood.
The headphones come from French firm Focal, and feature a closed design to comfortably fit on the noggin’. Focal studied the sonic signature of Naim’s speaker unit to ensure that it matched that of the headphones. In theory, that means listening to music on either device should sound the same.
The headphones come with a carry case featuring the same woven material features on the grille of Naim’s speaker unit.
They are both cheaper than a full-blown Bentley, but price right up there when it comes to audio equipment. The Bentley Naim speaker will set you back US$2,200 while the Bentley Focal headphones go for US$1,300.
