A 360-degree speaker that can talk to your phone

Huawei has quietly unveiled its Sound X Bluetooth speaker here in the region.

The Sound X comes packed with tech from esteemed audio brand Devialet, and promises 360-degree sound no matter where you place it in the room.

The speaker features a touch-friendly LED control system up top, speakers around the middle and dual-subs (which is important, as most speakers of this size come with zero sub-woofers at all).

The Sound X also comes with gesture controls, that let you put your hand on top of the control system to get it to quieten down.

Pairing with your smartphone is done via Bluetooth 5.1, but it also comes with NFC OneHop – so once connected for the first time you can simply tap your phone to the device and it will connect and start playing your tunes.

In some markets (namely, China) the Sound X comes with Huawei’s built-in voice assistant. While there’s no word of that happening in our market just yet, we’re hopeful the additional smart feature will arrive in a future update.

The Sound X is available right now for AED1,300 via Huawei’s e-shop.
