Earlier today Oppo posted a series of pictures to its Twitter account, of a prototype smartphone boasting ‘waterfall technology’, which is a design that makes the left and right bezels almost invisible.
The prototype has curved edges on either side of the screen, giving it close to a 100% screen to body ratio.
The company has called it ‘waterfall technology’, given that the screen on the left and right almost curves back 90-degrees. That means when looking at the phone from straight on, the phone appears to be all screen.
Oppo didn’t say anything more about the smartphone prototype, including what model it will be when it launches. However, this isn’t the first time this type of technology has been seen.
Chinese smartphone-maker Vivo has teased its new smartphone, the NEX 3. It makes use of a similar design, and is due out later this year. And if Oppo is already teasing its new phone’s display, we don’t imagine it will be too far away before it releases this one, either.
This comes on the back of a busy autumn 2019 season for smartphones. Not only is Samsung getting ready to release its Fold and Galaxy Note 10, but Apple is gearing up for its annual launch of new iPhones in September.
