There’s no doubt, Bang & Olufsen has established its brand name worldwide since they were established in the mid 1920s. They have become one of the most iconic brands in audio. And while its products are usually expensive, the Danish company consistently produces top-notch sound kit.
At the moment, there is a huge buzz centring around true wireless earbuds. Unfortunately, the big players are yet to settle on a form-factor that suits everyone. Step up B&O Play, and its first ever, true wireless earbuds.
To begin with, the sound is generally rich and full, with a nice amount of crispness in the mids and trebles.
The B&O Play E8 comes with a very neat control scheme. Each earbud comes with a touch-sensitive panel that activates a variety of commands. If you gently tap the right earbud, you can play/pause music. A double tap skips a track and holding it raises the volume.
On the other side, the left earbud does the complete opposite. A double tap skips back a track and holding it down lowers the volume. Meanwhile, a gentle tap on the left earbud puts the earphone in ‘transparency mode’ which allows sounds from the outside in (for example, if you quickly need to hear what someone is saying without pulling out your earbuds, this mode will come in handy).
Moving on, while most true-wireless buds sacrifice comfort for portability; this is not true about these. The B&O Play E8s have a small plastic hook that slips inside your inner ear which cannot be felt at all. They don’t put any pressure on your ear canal; and thus, provide maximum comfort. With this being said, the earbuds still do sit firmly inside the ear. And they can successfully survive the quickest and bounciest of runs.
An issue that most wireless devices encounter is low battery life. The E8’s come with a handy charging case. Each earbud provides four to five hours of uninterrupted music playback. The battery case effectively doubles that. That means two five-hour sessions before you’ll have to charge the case.
