The Porsche Targa 911 has just had its virtual debut.
The motor – which was due to be showcased at the now cancelled 2020 Beijing motor Show – features a retractable roof above the front seats and its characteristic wraparound rear window. The roll bar is silver as standard, but can be upgraded to black.
The unveiling comes after the 2021 versions of the Carrera, Carrera S and the Turbo S 911 were revealed earlier in the year.
According to Porsche, the Targa makes use of two flat magnesium pieces that hold the fabric roof together. That roof can automatically retract into a storage department in the rear of the car (the process takes just 19-seconds).
To further distinguish the Targa model from the regular coupe and convertible 911, it has more exaggerated wheel housings and a wider rear spoiler.
Under the hood, you get a 3.0-litre twin-turbo engine that creates 279 horsepower. In sprint mode, Porsche says the motor will go from 0-100kph in just 4.0 seconds and hit a top speed of 288kph.
The Targa is also available in a Sport Chrono configuration, which will go the same distance in just 3.4-seconds. That will hit speeds north of 300kph.
The new Porsche 911 Targa will hit roads later this year for around US$120,000. The Sport model will be available for a price closer to US$135,000.
