Brabus is back with its main love, Mercedes, to give you the most powerful SUV in history.
Turning a blind eye to the Taycans and Teslas of this world, no-nonsense performance company Brabus is making an appearance at the Frankfurt Motor Show not with its latest innovation in electric or hybrid tech, instead with the most powerful SUV in the world, using a soon to be discontinued V12 engine.
Porsche wants to have half of all its cars electric in the next decade, with the likes of BMW and Bentley having similar missions. The rise of electric vehicles, of which Tesla has a commanding market share right now, as well as the rising strictness of emissions regulations, has rendered the good-ol’ petrol powerhouses somewhat unfashionable in Europe.
However, that hasn’t fazed Brabus with its latest ‘G V12 900’. The G-Class SUV nabs the V12 engine from the AMG S65 Final Edition, aptly named as it’s the last full-size lux sedan from Mercedes to use a V12.
The original V12 had 621 horsepower (hp) but Brabus wasn’t happy with that number and added bigger turbo chargers, custom exhaust and intake manifolds, new exhausts, new air filtration systems, and added 0.3 litres to the 6.0 litre engine. Brabus claims what all this means is it’s made the most powerful SUV in the world with 888 hp and 900 brake horsepower (bhp).

It also makes it the second fastest production SUV on the market, with a top speed of 174 mph (280 kph). Beaten only by the 190 mph (305 kph) reached by the Bentley Bentayga Speed. The G V12 900 can do 0-62 mph (100 kph) in 3.8 seconds and comes with a nine-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive functions.
The car is also outfitted with a custom leather, along with a variety of Brabus touches which include carbon fibre inlays LED lighting, and aluminium accessories throughout the cabin.
How much for all of this? The car is limited to a production of 10 and has a pre-tax estimation of US $670,000.
